Some Thoughts on Productivity

Some Thoughts on Productivity

When you show up for work how many times do you wonder what you are going to do that day? Do you start your work day with goals that you want to accomplish? Or do you just jump in and react to what comes across your desk?

The saying “You can’t see the forest for the trees” basically means that a person loses sight of the big picture because they get lost in the details. That statement applies to many of us. However, I believe that many owners and managers also have the opposite problem. This group can usually see the big picture, but often times they struggle with what they should be doing each day. There is always the question – what do I work on next?

The most productive work environment for both employer and employees provides a clear understanding of what needs to be accomplished in a given period of time. Only when you know what you are doing will you be able to find a productive way of accomplishing it. By sorting out what you should be working on, it will be easier to stay focused and you’ll be less likely to get distracted.
