How to Build the Business of Your Dreams in 6 Steps

I’m a business consultant. I help people grow their bottom-line, and build the business of their dreams. I’m good at it, and over the years I’ve helped many of my clients to double (or more) their sales and fix the problems in their businesses that had been troubling them for years. Every business is unique, and the support I provide is therefore always different.

However, there are 6 distinct steps to build the business of your dreams. Over the next several months, I’m going to walk you through each of these 6 steps one by one, addressing any common pitfalls and offering my advice, tips and tricks for executing each step successfully. I have a lot of experience doing this, but if you know the steps, you can take your own business through this process and build the business of your dreams.

The six steps are:

  1. Vision - What would I like to accomplish, in general?

  2. Goals - What do I want to accomplish, specifically?

  3. Plan - How will I accomplish it?

  4. To-do list - What tasks need to happen to support the plan?

  5. Job description - Who is going to do each task?

  6. Calendar -  When will all of these tasks get done and goals be accomplished?

Let’s jump into Step 1.

Step 1: Creating Your Vision

TAKE A PICTURE OF WHAT YOU WOULD LIKE TO ACCOMPLISH
(IN GENERAL)

Creating your vision is the first step in the process of building the business of your dreams. I recently wrote an article outlining the 7 steps to create your 3-year vision that I would like to share to support you in this first step of the process.

The problem with having a vision is that for many people, a “vision” of what their business “could be” seems too uncertain and nebulous for them to really get their head around. The idea of creating a vision can be overwhelming, and it causes people to quit working on their vision before they even start. In my experience, the way I’ve overcome this with business owners is to take it down from a “vision” to a “3 Year Vision”- putting a vision into a 3-year timeline brings it back down to earth and makes it a little easier to grasp.
