Getting Control of Your Work Time
How many times during the workday do you think – I wish I had more time. With a little creativity and some discipline, it might be easier than you think. Combine the things you would normally do outside of work, such as taking a walk, within your workday. For example, schedule a meeting with an employee or customer and go for a walk. Not only will you get your exercise, but you may find the meeting will be more relaxed and productive.
Reach out to co-workers who have some of the same needs you do and see if there is an opportunity to share. Perhaps you can share responsibilities around your children, like picking up or dropping off kids at daycare or school. You can also share errands such as going to the grocery store or dry cleaners.
To have more time during the day, you need to work at it. So much of our time is lost to inefficiency. Getting more organized will definitely add time to your workday. At the end of each day, clean off your desk. That way you’ll get a fresh start each morning. I also recommend having a procedure to handle your physical and electronic inbox since both those areas can get out of control very quickly.
